Gambling is an addiction which has destroyed many lives in the past and will keep on destroying if you don’t control your addiction. Though gambling does not mean you spending few hours of online poker sites over the weekend. I play poker online too, I received rakeback deals from few subscriptions online to play on absolute poker but that doesn’t mean I am addicted. Lots of things can cause addiction such as drugs, gambling and even drinking.
Gambling basically means you bet and you hope you win but it is very dangerous. Many people try gamble on a daily basis and then they can’t stop which gets them addicted. They just cannot stop gambling. In the past gambling has ruined many people’s lives including cricket players. From being the richest cricket players in the World they have gone down to being a person who had to sell their homes for money. Just imagine what their family must have gone through.
Gambling is one thing which you should never associate with especially bettings and fixings. Playing poker is ok. Millions of people play poker either on the Internet or with their family as a fun activity. That is not gambling. There are also two advantages when playing online poker one is that you meet lots of people from different cultures and countries which increases your cultural awareness. And another advantage is that it sharpens your mind because you have to be focused at all times and read the game.
People have lost their family, money and even love by gambling addiction in the past. Some have actually lost their family to be honest so this can be a very dangerous addiction. I know people who have suffered mentally after the addiction and they were all living a happy life before.
So it’s good for fun activities but avoid getting addicted to it.

PokerStars has been the giant of the online poker world ever since taking this position from Party Poker a few years ago. It would seem though that they may well have to take a step back from the poker room chain following the recent news of Party Poker’s merger.
Party Poker’s parent company PartyGaming recently agreed to a merger with the Austrian gambling site Bwin that will take place in 2011. (more…)

2010 is definitely seeing the women take the lead early on, and as we get closers to mid-year you might wonder if the boys will ever be able to catch up.
So what’s the fuel behind all these ladies taking the cake? For Selbst it could be her luck, it could be chance, or it could be the remarkable academic background that draws her to the table. It was during 2007 that Selbst first came onto the scene where she managed to finish 3rd in the heads-up championship of the World Series of Poker. It was only a year later that she picked up her first bracelet in a pot-limit Omaha contest and then as a complete surprise to most people she disappeared from scene. Holiday to a tropical island? Year off to work on her game? Hardly, Selbst took off to hit the books.
Selbst thought that poker was losing a lot of the fun it used to be and she decided she missed the intellectual stimulation of school. Selbst returned to Yale, (where she already held one degree and a subsequent Fulbright scholarship) to pursue a degree in law as a human rights lawyer. If you think about it, this career choice skilled poker shark turned lawyer isn’t that strange of a call as some of the qualities lawyers and successful poker players share are surprisingly complementary- analytical style, logical thought process- it makes sense.
She can always join in with Internet Poker and perhaps have a game of PKR Poker, or Everest Poker

It’s really upsetting when you lose out on the big game and see the pot going to your arch rival, but in reality losing a bit of money is nothing compared to what some people are having to face just to survive. The powerful earthquake that devastated Haiti this year was way more devastating to all those living in the district, then the loss of a poker match could ever be. It would seem that famous celebrities, huge organisations and some volunteer groups from all across the globe have joined forces to help to raise funds to assist those unfortunately affected by the tragedy and it would seem that some of the gaming divisions best poker sites have joined in with the good cause.
