21st Century Gambling

I love roulette but truly hate some of the online casinos. Most of them are little more than simple arcade games with none of the intrigue of the real game of roulette. There is only one type I’ll play online – live online roulette.

Now there are many people who will try and pretend that playing roulette online is better than visiting a casino. It’s safer, more economical and better for the environment well to be honest none of these arguments hold much appeal to me, I mean who plays economical roulette anyway, it’s about risk and reward and excitement. It would be a real casino everytime for me.

That’s the crux of the matter ever since Blaise Pascal invented the devilish wheel in the 17th Century it has held an almost unassailable position in the affections of the average gambler. There is something hypnotic yet exciting in watching that little silver ball spin around the wheel alas this cannot be replaced by watching a clever little animated roulette wheel accompanied by horrible piped muzac in the background.

Maybe it’s just me as these online casinos seem very popular, I have to admit there’s some very varied and original games with all sorts of variations on the standard game of roulette. Yet these have to be tried to keep the interest of the average online roulette player.

Usually the problem with online roulette is not graphics, or sounds or video. It’s not even that I’m playing in my shorts, on a laptop whilst the TV is on, it’s the absence of a real element of chance.

There are better odds games to play, better ways of making money for sure but you can win a huge amount of money if you have ‘lady luck’ on your side. The fact is the random chance cannot be replaced by a complex algorithm. That is the problem I’m sure the online casino games are safe and well run but you’ll always feel cheated when a large bet falls against you, the subject of the whim of a section of computer code.

I’ll stick to my favorite, an online live casino which is actually areal time game set in a casino in Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin. It’s real and so are the players and casino alongside you.
